ABB TrueView Vision Guided Robotic System Description

This document describes the TrueView Vision Guided Robotic (VGR) system from ABB, which uses a single-camera 3D vision system integrated into a robotic end-effector to locate, grasp, and precisely place rigid parts (such as engine heads) from non-precision dunnage onto engine blocks. It highlights how the system eliminates the need for custom fixturing, precision dunnage, and manual handling, solving challenges like part position variation, tilt, and ergonomic injury in automotive powertrain assembly.
