Plug-and-Play Interface for Industrial Control Loop Function Blocks

This paper presents a standardized interface for signals between function blocks in industrial control loops, enabling a "plug and play" configuration that reduces the need for detailed knowledge and minimizes configuration errors. It demonstrates how this interface addresses issues like integrator wind-up, bumpless transfer, signal quality, and signal ranges, and introduces control modules as an alternative to traditional IEC 61131-3 function blocks.
