MDGF Protection for Emax 2 and Tmax XT Circuit Breakers

This document introduces the Modified Differential Ground Fault (MDGF) protection feature for Emax 2 and New Tmax XT circuit breakers, designed to address ground fault challenges in multi-sourced electrical systems with a solidly grounded common neutral conductor. It explains how MDGF, using the Emax 2’s Gext protection algorithm and external hardware, overcomes the limitations of traditional zero sequence ground fault protection in double-ended substations and generation paralleling gear.
