ABB Expert Optimizer Upgrade at Votorantim Cimentos Plants

This document describes the upgrade of ABB's Expert Optimizer system at Votorantim Cimentos' Itau and Salto plants in 2008/2009, replacing aging hardware while retaining over a decade of process knowledge. The upgrade introduced new technologies like Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Mixed Logical Dynamic (MLD) systems, resulting in more stable alternative fuel usage, improved clinker quality, and reduced production costs.
